It seem now that America is getting more serious about the threat of global warming as The Department of Energy have now said that they would pledge $17 million in grants to help find a better source of fuel for the running of our vehicles, and two of the projects that they will be giving the grants to are for plug in hybrid vehicles which will get $14 million for new battery technology, while the other $3 million will be used for the development of ethanol to be used in flex-fuel engines
Carmakers in Detroit have been asking the President George Bush for funding into these kind of projects as they say that we are need of an alternative fuel source for the future, but many car makers from other countries like Japan in particular Toyota are not happy about this as they are still trying to push for more tax credits for their Hybrid Vehicles that use both Gasoline/Petrol and Electric Motors, and they fear that they will not get an extension or these tax credits which in turn would slow up their sales of these hybrid vehicles in the U.S
Only time will tell how it will go for these foreign car makers but one thing is certain, the future is starting to look a bit better if not a bit too late
