Toyota say that you are able to get at least 55mpg from a Prius Hybrid vehicle, but there are people in Japan who are not happy with this and try to take it a step further, in order to compete with others to try and get the most mpg from their cars.

One such man Takashi Toya, had enough with having a car that used too much gas so he made the switch to hybrid, and he has not looked back. He now has a Toyota Prius Hybrid, and by making a few alterations like, special tyres, tapes plastic and cardboard over the engine and even blocks the grill with foam. By doing this he managed to average at least 79mpg last year.

Do not think for one minute that people stop there, as Toya is not alone as woman nicknamed Teddy-Girl has managed to squeeze 115mpg.
