Would Americans Welcome a Gas Tax?

Many of the American people agree that our world is a changing place in the way that our environment is taking a bit of a beating and the major cause of that is oil and that is what most of the American peoples vehicles run on, and whether they like it or not they are the worst polluters in the world and something needs to be done

We all know that George Bush has now started to push more alternatives for fuels, but for the moment we have the Hybrid Vehicle which as we know still runs on gas but also uses an electric motor as well which helps the car get more MPG but the U.S people are not embracing the idea so one way to get them to change their opinion on the hybrid is by introducing a tax on gas

Ok I know that the government will not agree to this as they would kiss themselves goodbye at the next election but if they really did care for our environment think how many people would want to use an Hybrid Car or SUV then, and with the money that they make on the gas tax they could pass on some extra tax credits for those who purchased a hybrid vehicle

So would you be prepared for a Gasoline Tax?
